The Truth About Landgate

Doors That Don’t Fit: A Basic Failure

One of the most frustrating aspects of our renovation was the improper installation of new construction doors. Not a single door fits properly, and in some cases, the gaps are so wide they violate building codes. These gaps not only look unsightly but also compromise the energy efficiency of our home. When we requested that Landgate replace the doors, they refused to take responsibility for their mistake.

Instead of replacing the faulty doors, Landgate offered a quick fix: cutting down and patching the trim. Given their history of poor craftsmanship, especially with the trim work, this was not a solution we could accept. It’s baffling to think that after spending $1.1 million on this project, we’re left with doors that don’t even close properly.

Landgate’s Inadequate Response to Door Issues

The installation of our doors was a critical part of the renovation, but Landgate fell short yet again. The new doors were improperly fitted, leaving gaps that are larger than what code allows. These gaps weren’t just cosmetic issues; they affect the security and insulation of our home. Despite the significant cost per door, Landgate refused to replace them when we raised the issue.

Rather than addressing the root of the problem, they proposed cutting down and patching the trim as a temporary solution. After seeing the quality of their trim work elsewhere in the house, we knew this wasn’t an option. It’s unacceptable to invest such a large sum in a renovation and receive this level of disregard for quality and customer satisfaction.

Cat Door Inspiration vs. Landgate’s Attempt

What should have been a simple, functional cat door turned into another disappointment. Landgate’s version lacked both quality and attention to detail, leaving us with a poorly constructed door that didn’t meet our expectations. As you can see from the images, their attempt was far from what we had envisioned. The second image shows the cat door we ultimately went with—sleek, well-built, and aligned with our home’s design. After seeing Landgate’s work, we couldn’t help but wonder, Are you kidding me?
